The CMC has planned to direct people and school children to take care of each plant and to give rewards to the person who maintains the plants properly after one year.

A discussion regarding this was held between the Minister of Wildlife & Forest Conservation, C.B Rathnayake and the Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake at the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation recently (17).

The Forest Department agreed to provide 15,000 plants by April 20 and to reach the target of provision of 100,000 plants within six months.

The project includes the creation of an orchard near the children's garden at the Vihara Maha Devi Park, provision of plants such as aloe vera and ginger to the flat residents. It was confirmed that 3000 government and non-government organizations including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Conservation and the Ministry of Environment will contribute in this program.
