The Venerable Thero pointed out that this was the first time in his lifetime that he had seen the conduct of an election in a peaceful environment. The venerable Thero said that in previous elections, when a candidate won, a great deal of inconvenience was caused to the people, the sound of crackers was unbearable. He pointed out however no such incidents had taken place this time when the results were announced.

The environment was very peaceful. He mentioned that this was mainly due to the President’s actions.
