Addressing a media briefing convened by the National Movement for a Just Society, Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera emphasised that the government should appoint an intelligent Cabinet of Ministers and not individuals who have allegations against them. The Thera also emphasised on the importance of appointing intelligent, experienced officers to fill the posts of Secretary.

The Thera said that the President and the Prime Minister extended unstinting support for the conduct of a free and fair election. He said the President did not exercise any of his executive powers on behalf of any party. Also the Prime Minister did not use the powers to exploit state media or state vehicles for the victory of his party. This enabled to conduct a free and fair election.
