    No investigations against honest public employees- President

    Officials who execute their duties in a proper manner with honesty will never have to face investigations for financial crimes and the government is prepared to protect them assured President Maithripala Sirisena.

     

    “Today, some in the public service are refraining from signing documents. They fear facing the investigations, which will not be held f they act honestly and in a proper way,” President said addressing the 33rd Annual General Meeting of Sri Lanka Administrative Service, held at the Nelum Pokuna in Colombo yesterday (29th March).

     

    According to the President, adopting the 19th Amendment to the Constitution helped to make the good governance concept a reality and to prevent political vengeance in the public sector.

     

    President recalling his past said: “today, the public officials have an opportunity to fulfil their duties and responsibilities without the interference of politicians while protecting the dignity of their service”.

     

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Minister Vajira Abeywardana, Minister Sagala Rathnayake, Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon, Chairman of Public Service Commission, Ranjith Ariyaratne also were participated .
