    Responsibility on financial discipline & management shown practically – President Featured

    Importance of maintaining strict financial discipline and management in implementing development projects and the importance of fulfilling responsibilities from the very beginning of the year to achieve the annual goals was emphasized by the President Maithripala Sirisena.

     


    He made these remarks participating in a ceremony to declare open the newly built building complex for the Ministry of Finance yesterday (31st March).

     


    According to him, during the last one year, the duties and responsibilities on financial discipline and management of the country have been fulfilled in a proper way by him and he has taken steps to cut down the expenditures of the Presidential Secretariat by sixty percent. “I have ended an era where the public funds were wasted”, he added.

     


    President pointed out the Sri Lankan Airlines incurred a huge loss due to the actions of the previous regime’s leaders and added, the charter flights were not used by himself for the foreign tours.

     


    Maha Sangha , Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe, Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister Rishad Bardudeen, Minister D.M. Swaminathan, State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, Secretary to the President P.B. Abeykoon participated in this event.
