President Rajapaksa declared open two such Laboratories built under this programme on Sunday (12).
The President first declared open the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory established at the Hindu Maha Vidyalaya in Kilinochchi equipped with a Laboratory comprising 40 computers, a Language Laboratory with 20 computers, a Mathematics Laboratory and a Nenasa Distant Education Unit as well as an Advanced Level Laboratory. After vesting the Laboratories in the students, the President undertook an inspection visit and made inquiries into the studies of the school children.
Thereafter the President who arrived at the Wadakkachchi Maha Vidyalaya for the opening of the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory of the school, was accorded a very warm welcome by the students. Fulfilling the Hindu traditions, the children invoked blessings on the President. After opening the Mahindodaya Laboratory, the President exchanged pleasantries with the children.
President Rajapaksa speaking after opening the Mahindodaya Technological Laboratories said that his desire was to see the Northern children reaching highest standards in their education. He said that IT literacy rate has been increased to more than 50 percent under the present government and the government is taking measures to uplift the country’s education based on a future plan.
Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri, Ministers Douglas Devananda, Bandula Gunawardena and Felix Perera and Parliamentarian Murugesu Chandrakumar were among those who joined in this occasion.
