The President also called on the Praveenacharya Damma Kiththi Sri Ven. Navadagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Thero- the Cief Sanganayake of the Amarapura Nikaya and the Chief Incumbent of Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Vihara.

Thereafter the President inaugurated the construction of a massive Buddha statue with the Abhaya Mudrawa and construction of the Nagalokaya with paintings at the Vihara.

President Rajapaksa also attended to religious observances at the Naga Bhushanee Amman Kovil and received blessings from Siva Sri Ganeshwara Kurukkal who held a special pooja for the President.

Minister Douglas Devananda and Northern Province Governor G.A.Chandrasiri were present on the occasions.
