Addressing the Secretaries of the Ministries, President Sirisena instructed them to formulate a new national policy in keeping with safeguarding natural resources and protecting the environment as well as increasing local productivity and eradicating drug menace from the country.The President emphasised the importance of promoting local food production and being self-sufficient.

He also instructed the relevant officials to prepare a special programme to minimise teacher shortages and to fulfill human resource needs in the education sector, within a year.

Chief Minister Peshala Jayarathna, Deputy Ministers Wasantha Senanayake, Chandrasiri Sooriyarachchi and officials representing the Provincial councils and Local Government Institutions in the Polonnaruwa District.

Also President's Secretary P.B.Abeykoon, Ministry Secretaries, District Secretary Polonnaruwa too were present.
