    Sri Lankan Scouts attending World Scout Jamboree meet Presiddent Featured

    Sri Lankan scouts and leaders participating at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree which will be held in Yamaguchi, Japan met with President Maithripala Sirisena on Thursday July 23.

     

    The scouts and leaders who arrived at the President’s official residence met with the President who is also the Patron of the Sri Lanka Scouts Movement. The President handed over the national flag to the scouts participating at the World Scout Jamboree.

     

    Thirty thousand (30 ,000) scouts representing 162 countries are due to take part at the World Scout Jamboree this year. Around 120 scouts will be representing Sri Lanka at the Jamboree.  The Jamboree is scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 8.

     

    President Sirisena speaking with the scouts explained how discipline learned as a scout during his school days has helped him to carry out the responsibilities as Sri Lanka's President.

     

    The Chief Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scouts Movement Prof.Nimal de Silva and International Commissioner of Sri Lanka Scouts Movement Janaprith Fernando were present on the occasion.
