    UN Secretary-General to Visit India in January

    New Delhi,: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will travel to India next January to participate in an international conference aimed at promoting investment in the state of Gujarat.


    Ban Ki-moon will take part in the 'Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015', Finance minister and Gujarat Government Spokesperson Saurabh Patel said on Monday.

    Prensa Latina News Agency quoting the Secretary-General said, he will arrive in Gandhinagar next January 10th and will attend the forum inauguration on the 11th.

    Gujarat is India's second most industrializes state and one of the areas of greatest economic growth in the country. It is also the hometown of national independence leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel.

    A record number of foreign leaders, international organization representatives, minister and high-level businessmen are expected to attend the Summit in order to attract foreign investment for the state.


    According to organizers, the inauguration will be led by President Modi.(KH)
