A special meeting was held at the President’s Office yestarday (04) to summarise and evaluate the programmes implemented in the country to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, under the patronage of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

On the recommendations of the special committee appointed on the directions of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, 2,961 prisoners were released on bail. This group of prisoners were gradually released from March 17^th until yesterday (04).The committee was appointed based on a request made to the president by the prisoners when the state leader visited the prisons on an inspection tour.

The Covid-19 has spread throughout the world and poses a threat to all countries, including Sri Lanka. All these countries and Sri Lanka have taken many measures to control the spread of the virus and eradicate it. In Sri Lanka, many local companies and organizations have come forward to contribute monetarily and by providing other materials.

The fifth Covid-19 death was reported in Sri Lanka today (04) which was confirmed by the Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe.
