    PM to open an International Arbitration Centre in Colombo

    The government aiming to position Sri Lanka as an international arbitration hub in the region has set up an International Arbitration Centre and it is to be opened by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe next week.

    The International Arbitration Centre will be housed in the World Trade Center in Colombo. The government has focused attention on developing Sri Lanka as a regional hub of providing servicers related to Law and Order taking into consideration the professional capabilities in the legal sphere of Sri Lanka.

     

    The International Arbitration Centre has been established as a step towards this end with the objective of establishing an unbiased, efficient and trustworthy mechanism within the Asian region to fulfill the needs of international business community.

     

    Through this center, it is expected that international companies would be able to resolve any commercial-related disputes.

     

    The Cabinet of Ministers recently gave approval to Minister of Justice Wijedasa Rajapaksha to start a government company to carry out the activities of this center efficiently and successfully.
